Trip to Seattle and Olympic Peninsula-Part 3

Here are some videos from some of the hikes we did while visiting Washington.

The Spruce Railroad Trail is a dog-friendly hike within Olympic National Park, located along Lake Crescent. It’s 11 miles out and back, but you can go easily turn around at any point. It’s a very easy, but popular hike.

Madison Falls is a VERY short 0.25 mile round trip hike to see Madison Falls within Olympic National Park. Dogs are also allowed on this trail. The falls are beautiful, and there is a stream at the base that we were able to let the dogs play in. Even though it’s close to the road, the canopy is so dense and it feels like you are miles away from civilization.

The Hoh Rainforest within Olympic National Park has several easy trails. None of them allow dogs, but we did the Spruce Nature trail that was an easy loop that let us experience the rainforest.

Ruby Beach is on the Pacific coast but also part of Olympic National Park. Dogs are allowed on the beach. At low tide you can see tidal pools, which we missed. It was still a pretty, though a little grey and chilly.

My favorite hike on our trip was the Quinault Loop, in Olympic National Forest. Dogs are allowed in all National forests. We started at Lake Quinault, which was stunning, and then ventured into the Quinault rainforest. I loved everything about this hike — the trees, the creek and falls, it was just amazing.

  1. Looks like some great places to hike! I love the rails to trails they have at many places now. The tunnel at the Spruce Railroad Trail is kind of creepy! Lake Quinault is really beautiful. Nice to know you can hike with your dogs there.

    1. Seriously, they had this lodge right on the lake that was dog friendly, and I must go back. They also had camping right on the lake, though I think it would be too small for your trailer in the campground we saw.
